Fred Conklin, age 84, of Jenison, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Conklin; parents, Fred and Haloise Conklin.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Conklin; children, Heather and Tom Sandberg, Clint Conklin; stepchildren, Emma Halstead, Michael Reed; grandchildren, Drew and Haley Sandberg, Austin and Nikoma Conklin, Ty and Hanna Conklin; sisters, Deanna Swoveland, Cleo Conklin.
Fred proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964 in the Vietnam War. He retired as a fleet driver from Steelcase after 27 years.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, from 1 to 3 P.M. at VanderLaan Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at VanderLaan Funeral Home on Monday, October 6, at 12:00 P.M.

So sorry to hear about Fred's passing. Fred and I were classmates at Hudson High School, class of 1960. Fred was of the funniest kids in our class. The last time I saw him was at our 50th class reunion and we had a good talk.
