Croley Funeral Home - HawkinsFred Edward Cromley, 95, of Gilmer, Texas passed away March 7, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.
Fred was born on May 16, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to Fred Allen Cromley and Mable Cooksie Cromley. He grew up in Mart, Texas where he met the love of his life, Irma. They were married and began a family together in 1950, sharing a devoted life of love and partnership.
Fred was employed by Exxon Mobil Corporation where he dedicated 38 years of service before retiring. Following his retirement, Fred and Irma enjoyed traveling together and eventually spent their summers at their cabin in the mountains of Colorado, a place that brought them great peace and joy.
Fred loved the Lord and lived his life guided by his faith. He deeply missed his beloved wife of 68 years, Irma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma; son, Michael; and his half-brother Arthur.
Fred is survived by his son, Robert Cromley (Denise); granddaughter, Colleen Cromley, two grandsons, Brent White (Crystal) and Zachary White (Amanda); two great-granddaughters, Ashlynn White and Annsley White and two great-grandsons, Conrad White and Sawyer White.
Fred will be remembered for his faith, strong work ethic, love of family and the quiet, steady devotion he showed throughout his life.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Cromley will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning one hour prior to his service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
