Fred Douglas Custis was born September 28, 1967, to the late Anna M. Braxton-Custis and Ernest Lee Custis in Baltimore, Maryland. Fred affectionately known as Freddie, Big Fred to family and friends, departed this earthly life suddenly on February 3, 2024.
Fred graduated from Indian River High School in 1985. He then attended Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown, Delaware where he completed some additional studies.
He worked various jobs including Playtex and Smithfield until he retired in 2015 due to health reasons.
Fred aka "DJ Big Fred" loved music and would DJ for many functions. Fred dedicated his life to Christ on February 20, 2016. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and many people could see the change in his life. Fred never complained about helping others, his smile would light up a room. He was ordained as the deacon of the church and loved helping Elder Cannon with whatever needed to be done. He loved the Baltimore Ravens and would wear the gear to let everyone know who his favorite team was in the NFL.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Adriene Custis; four sons, Richard "JR" Custis; Javon Watson; Tyler Belle; Brooks Parker; four daughters, Janeeka Custis; Ashley Custis; Jada Custis; Jessica Jones; four siblings, Geraldine "Cookie" Custis; Elizabeth Badger (David); Clifton Boggs; Michael Custis; mother-in-law, Dola Stewart; two brothers-in-law, Lavanion Belle (Aleeshia), Dwayne Griffin (Yvonne); two sisters-in-law, Sherita Belle; Vanette Belle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
