Fred Damsen

DAMSEN, Fred Dewayne – of Birch Run, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, December 5, 2025, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Celebrant John Montney officiating. Burial to follow at Assumption BVM Cemetery in Bridgeport. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2PM until 7PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Fred was born on November 24, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Frederick and Dorothy (Ballard) Damsen. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in December of 1967. On October 9, 1965, Fred married Mary Ann Rappley and they shared 60 years together. Fred retired from Delphi Chassis after many years of service and was a member of the UAW Local #467. He was also a member of St. Francis DeSales Parish in Bridgeport, The Knights of Columbus, Harley Owners Group (H.O.G), Frankenmuth Snowmobile Club, and the Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426. Fred enjoyed riding his snowmobile, side by side, and Harley.
Surviving are: Wife, Mary Ann Damsen; Sons: Jeffrey (Dana) Damsen, and Scot Damsen; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; Brother, James (Katy) Damsen; Many other loving family members and dear friends. Fred was also preceded in death by: Infant daughter, Michele Marie; Brother, Ronald Damsen; Parents, Frederick and Dorothy; Father and mother in law, Robert and Casimira Rappley.
