Fred Jones

Fred Lee Jones, 85 of Salisbury, Maryland, departed this earthly life eternal rest, February 19, 2024, at Genesis Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center-Coastal Hospice Ward in Salisbury, Maryland. Fred was the son of the late Mary Della Jones and Raymond Jones of Scotland Neck, North Carolina.
Fred retired after 25 years of service from Salisbury University and was formerly employed at Manhattan Shirt Company, Grant, Hess Apparel, Peninsula General Hospital, now known as Tidalhealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, and Genesis Salisbury Nursing Home in Salisbury, Maryland.
He began his Christian walk with God at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Scotland Neck, North Carolina, at an early age. After moving to Maryland, he joined Holy Temple C.O. G. I. C. under the leadership of Bishop James L. Eure, Sr. and served as deacon and minister. He continued his spiritual journey and transferred membership to Holy Temple of the Apostle Doctrine under Pastor James Briscoe.
He had a strong sense of nostalgia and connection to the past. It was evidenced by his love of antiques. He appreciated the value of things that others failed to notice. Fred appreciated the history and craftsmanship, quality, and durability of older items. He also possessed a keen eye for interior decorating.
On August 9, 1959, he was united in holy matrimony to Amy Virginia Whitaker, who preceded him in death.
Fred is survived by three children: Joyce Jones, Ronald Jones, and Fred D. Jones; five grandchildren: Rhonda Savage, Renita Jones, Gabriel Jones, Shaniece Jones and Jazmon Jones; three great-grandchildren: RonTre' Savage, Kyla Savage and Amyr Jones-Simmons; one great-great grandchild: Rosie Savage; one sister: Ruth Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and extended family.
BEYOND LIFE'S GATEWAY
There's an open gate at the end of the road. Through which each must go alone. And there is a light we cannot see. Our Father claims His own. Beyond the gate our loved one finds happiness and rest. And there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best.
The Family wishes to express our deepest and sincerest gratitude for the many expressions of love extended to us during this period of bereavement. The comfort received will remain a precious memory. May God continue to richly bless each of you.
