Fred Winifred Light, Jr. (1953-2025)

Fred Winifred Light, Jr., 71, of Pineville, NC, passed away of natural causes on August 2, 2025.

He was born in Kingsport, TN in 1953 to Fred Sr. and Evelyn June Light, who raised him to be the wonderful man he was. He loved playing football throughout high school. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in chemistry and went on to work for Eastman and then DSM Coating Resins. While at DSM, he was a Technical Applications Manager. This position afforded him the opportunity for travel and is where he developed a love of Germany where he spent many weeks enjoying Garmisch-Partenkirchen and most notably the Zugspitze peak. He would often enjoy time at the Waldhorn Restaurant in Pineville with his friends.

Fred is survived by his loving mother, Evelyn June Light, beloved daughter, Courtney Nelson and husband Tyler Nelson, and his two grandchildren, Hadley and Luke. He loved being a proud grandfather that played in the yard and built Legos with Hadley and Luke. He never failed to put a smile on their face when they would visit together.

Fred will always be remembered for his quick wit, loving personality, and generosity. We couldn't have asked for a better father and grandfather and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of those that loved him.

There will be a celebration of life at the Waldhorn Restaurant, Pineville, NC on September 6th, from 2pm-4pm
