Mr. Fred Nathaniel Vining Jr., a lifelong resident of Lake City, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. Mr. Vining was born in Lake City to the late Fred N. and Delma Box Vining Sr. and was a 1969 graduate of Columbia High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Later, Mr. Vining was employed by the Florida Department of Transportation for thirty years until the time of his retirement. He loved deer and turkey hunting and riding his tractor. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Mr. Vining is survived by his daughters: Staci (Glen) Musgrove of Lake City and Christa (Paul) Heinmuller of Brunswick; grandchildren: Alyssa, Noah, Gloree, Maverick, and Eastyn; and sisters: Freda Flamm and Pat (Mike) Hudson all of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife: Gloria Jean Bailey Vining; his parents; and sisters: Shirlene Fletcher and Virginia Miles. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at The Orchard at SouthRidge Community Church, 162 SW Ridge St., Lake City, FL 32024 with Pastors Eddie Blalock and Robert Bradow officiating. Interment will follow the service at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery, 144 County Hwy 18, Lake City, FL 32024. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to https://theorchardcc.churchcenter.com/giving/to/other-contribution-deductible in Mr. Vining's memory.
