Guerry Forbes Funeral Home - Lake CityMabel Quiette Young Loch, age 100 of Lake City, died peacefully on February 23, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida. She was born September 29, 1925, in Shamrock, Florida to William Thomas Quiette and Pearl Futch. She graduated from high school in Dixie County, and in 1944 married David G. Young Jr. Together they were blessed with eleven children. In 1960, Mabel moved with her family to Lake City, Florida and they became faithful members of Epiphany Catholic Church. She was a bookkeeper and worked at Briscoe’s Office Supply in Lake City and Columbia County Council on Aging until her husband’s death in 1987. She later married John Loch in 1994, enjoying eleven years of fishing, camping, and family get togethers. A devoted mother, she instilled in her children a love for God and for each other. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son: Lawrence Michael Young, and nine siblings. She is survived by her children: David G. (Martha) Young III of Easley, NC, Mary (Dave) Humphrey of Rockledge, FL, Sarah (Michael) Pearson of Tallahassee, FL, Margaret (Roger) Lizotte, Therese (Richey DePoyster) Young, Joan (Chuck) Sage, Angela (Doug) Smith, Paul Young, Stephen (Mae) Young, Stanley (Tammy) Young and stepchildren: Michael Loch, Carol Poarch, and Heather Neville, all of Lake City. Many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law also survive. Mass and funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, March 6, 2026, at Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Bob Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City. Mrs. Loch’s family will receive friends from 5-6:00pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City, 2569 SW Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Mabel Loch to Pregnancy Care Center of Lake City, 130 NW Hilton Avenue, Lake City, FL 32055.
