Barbara Loch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simons Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 20, 2026.
Barbara, a longtime resident of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 18, 2026, after just having celebrated her 92nd birthday on January 4th. She was born in the Avalon section of Pittsburgh, and was preceded in death by her father, Stanley J. Rogers, her mother, Rosella Rogers (Ropar), and her sister Priscilla Pehnec.

Barbara was a graduate of Avalon High School and worked for a time at U.S. Steel, where she met her husband and the love of her life, Richard Alan Loch, who predeceased her in 2007. After they were married, Barbara and Dick moved into their house in McCandless, which Barbara remained in until 2022, when she moved into the Province of Wexford. Barbara and Dick were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary together before he passed. Barbara's family is very grateful for the attentive and compassionate care she received from the staff at the Province.

Barbara was an excellent wife, mother, homemaker and friend, although there is not much photographic proof, given her displeasure at having her picture taken. Barbara loved having neighborhood children or dogs over to visit, and always kept an eye out for the birds and other wildlife drawn to the creek by the house. She was a longtime volunteer at the nearby Passavant Hospital. She loved to travel and frequently accompanied Dick on his business trips to Texas, Oklahoma and the west coast. In their later years they would travel to far-flung destinations, including Alaska, which was a favorite of hers.

Barbara had the gift of stubbornness, as well as good judgment, which served her well during her long life. She also was fearless with respect to strangers. Whether she was in the mall or hurrying to make flight, regardless of the other person's station in life, if she saw a hair style or outfit that she liked, which occurred regularly, she would reach out, touch that person on the arm, and deliver her compliment. Much to the surprise of her friends and companions, if any of these strangers were dismayed by such intrusion, it has gone unrecorded. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Barbara is survived by her sons, James and Robert and her daughter-in-law Barbara. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kylie, Kellin, Jessie, Isabel and Ava, and nieces on her side of the family, Susan and Lizz, and nieces and nephews on Dick's side of the family.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the Blessing Service at 12 noon on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy., Pgh, PA 15237. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford, 146 Neely School Road, Wexford, Pennsylvania, 15090.
