Fred Douglas Young was born on February 13, 1942 to Lynell Young and Ralph H. Young, Sr. in St. Louis, MO. He spent his childhood growing up in Firewoks, IL. In Fireworks, he had many fond memories of the people that he grew up with, the places he would hangout, the foods he would eat, the schools he would attend and the religious inspiration received attending St. John Baptist Church.

Fred loved his son and undoubtedly loved his 11 sibling: Harlon Sr., Zelma, Raymond Sr., Ojii, Marvin I, Ralph Jr., Anthony (Tony), Marvinetta (Net), Gralin, Veronica and Diane. He had a great affection for his eldest brother Harlon B. Young, Sr. so much so that he wanted to be just like him when he grew up.

Fred leaves to cherish his memory his son; R. Bernard Riddle-Young, 3 brothers; Omenka Ojii (West Memphis, AR), Marvin (Lenora) Young, I (East St. Louis), Ralph (Deloris) Young, Jr., (Belleville, IL); 2 sisters, Marvinetta Woodley (Saginaw, MI), Diane (Willie) Lee (St. Louis, MO), a special friend; Julia McClain (Pomona, CA), numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
