Freda Imogene Garner Ward, age 97, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
She was born in Amity on August 22, 1928. She was the daughter of Ernest Garner and Beulah Franklin Garner. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland Ward; her siblings, Alvin Garner, Sybil Doster, Johnny Baggett; and her son, David Allen Ward.
Freda was a Christian in her faith. She was a talented seamstress. She loved shopping, bingo, and going on rides. Most of all Freda loved being with her family and her grandchildren. Freda was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, nanny, aunt, and friend and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Nellie Thrash of Amity; her two grandchildren, David and Lisa Thrash and Kim Thrash and her fiancé, Jeff Hayhurst; her five great-grandchildren, Kirstyn Thrash, Joshua (Maddie) Thrash, Damaris Thrash, Hannah Thrash, and Jada Thrash; her great-great-granddaughter, Selah Thrash; her two sisters, Bonnie Davidson and Mildred Couch both of Amity; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to services on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. Billy Thomason officiating.
Interment will be held at Jones Cemetery.
