Freda Mae Humphries Hizer,95, of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born July 20, 1930, at Pool, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Olva and Lynnie Humphries.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hizer; two daughters, Mary Harrah and Judy Ratliff; four sons, Billy, Roger, Michael, and Eugene, Jr.; two brothers, Jerald and Carl Humphries; one sister, Gay Tieman; two infant brothers; and three infant sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John (Sheila) Hizer; daughters, Mae (Darrell) Martin, Bonnie (Harold) Smith, and Roberta (John) Pittman; daughter-in-law, Connie Hizer; brother, Roy Humphries; companion, Roger Scarbro; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; thirty great great grandchildren; one great grandchild and two great great grandchildren all due in 2026.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor John Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at the John W. Rider Memorial Cemetery in Corliss, WV.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the the staff of Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill and Bowers Hospice House for the care shown to their mother during her time there.
