Freda Lynn McSwain, 69, of Landrum, SC, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Freda was born in Spartanburg, SC on June 26, 1956, a daughter of Mildred Christine (Edwards) Henson, of Inman and the late Douglas Gene Henson. She was the widow of Hughey McSwain. She is survived by two daughters, Bridgett "Darlene" Kimbrell and Christy Farr; a son, Thomas McSwain and his wife Tawnie; five grandchildren, Tayler West, Alex Molina, Savannah Gilbert, Colton McSwain and Bentlee Bishop; one great grandchild; a sister Donna Soles. She was predeceased by three grandchildren, Fatimah Samuels, Elijah McSwain and Brandelyn Farr; a brother, Tim Henson and a sister, Karen Ivey.
Freda was the oldest member of Hillview Church of God in Landrum, she was very strong in her faith. She loved to feed people in her community, never met a stranger and was very generous, her favorite saying was " the more the merrier".
A memorial service conducted by the family will be held at Hillview Church of God in Landrum, South Carolina on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 3:00 PM.
Her family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Hillview Church of God, 650 West Finger Street Landrum, SC 29356.
