On May 7, 2024, one of the most loving and caring souls entered heaven. Freda Grace (McNutt) Roach entered eternity after her long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her home at Thayer Kansas. She was born July 22, 1943, at home in Morehead Ks to Beulah (Meigs,
McNutt) Comer and Roy McNutt, who both proceeded her in death. Freda had 2 sisters, Mary Alice (McNutt) Hughes and Husband Wayne, Vera (McNutt) Arnold and Husband Bill. She had 1 brother Bill McNutt and wife Barbra. All proceeds her in death except Wayne Hughes.
Freda lived a true love story with her soulmate, Ronald Roach. They were married on August 25, 1963 and were blessed with 4 children: Tambra and husband Dave Bibler of Wichita, Shari and husband Kenneth Coatney of Thayer, William and wife Karen Drake of Niderland Tx, Danny DeWitt and wife Sandy of Carrollton Mo.
Freda has shared many memories and laughter with her grandchildren, Steffen Blevins (who was waiting in Heaven), and wife Katie, Shante’ Blevins, David Bibler, Kenny Lee Coatney and wife Jessica, Keenan Coatney and wife Adina, Kristin Coatney, Katelynn Drake, Keith Drake (who greeted her in Heaven), Logan DeWitt, Garrett DeWitt, Kylee DeWitt, Tyson Mouton, Jess Weaver, Dominick Northup, Hercules Palmer and Milleena Thoughvanell and 7 great grandchildren.
Freda lived a very fulfilling life and had many dear friends and touched many souls through her life’s journey. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1961, followed by attending ICC and working in the Neodesha Community for many years. She was a member of the Nazarene Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Children Church leader until she Moved to Texas in 1993.
She returned to college and obtained her degree as a Special Education Teacher which had been a lifelong dream. She enjoyed teaching and making a difference in the lives of her students till she retired at the age of 69 from the Silsbee Tx school system.
Freda was proud of her hometown of Neodesha where she lived until Freda and Ronnie moved to Lumberton Texas where they had a very active life, they moved to Thayer in 2016 and lived until her departure to Heaven.
Freda touched many souls and lived her life sharing her love for God.
A visitation will be held at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha on Monday, May 13th with the family greeting friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Freda’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha with burial immediately following at the Neodesha City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Freda’s name to Southeast Kansas Independent Living, SKIL.
