"Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted" – Matthew 5:4
Mr. Freddie Davis Sr., 80, of Mullins, SC passed away from Lewy body dementia on April 8, 2025, in Conyers, GA, peacefully, while surrounded by his family. He was born on May 23, 1944, in Highpoint, NC. He was the fourth of five children born to the late Deacon Hyman Davis Sr. and Bessie Mae Davis.
During his childhood he attended and graduated from Marion County schools. He joined Old Field Baptist Church where his faith in the Lord grew stronger, and he remained a faithful member until he became ill and moved with his children.
Freddie Sr. was a loyal employee of Anvil Knitwear where he worked as a Sewing Machine Mechanic until he later started working at Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority (PDRTA) as a Bus Operator. He stayed there until he retired.
He enjoyed cooking, grilling, watching westerns, old sitcoms, and watching football. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins (Commanders). He was a family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Freddie Sr. was a funny, loving, caring man who would help in any way that he could.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Dorothy A. Davis of Conyers, Ga and three loving children – Beverly (James) Scott, Freddie Davis Jr., and Trina Davis of Conyers, Ga: four grandchildren – TaMyra Davis, Aaron Davis, Jamilia Scott, and Jaqua Bethea, four great-grandchildren – Akeem Seekie, Zion Davis, Raeni Scott and Na'Layah Bethea, one brother in law, four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Hyman Davis Jr., and three sisters: Maebell Greene, Maggie Johnson and Margie (Jasper) Phillips, and several other family members.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Amity Hospice for assisting in the care of Freddie Sr. during his last months.
