Freddie Rudolph Lewis, Sr., 88, of Hobucken, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and son.
Born and raised in Hobucken, Feddie proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, where he dedicated 22 years before retiring. After returning home, he became a true jack-of-all-trades, willing to take on any job and always ready to lend a helping hand. His generous spirit and willingness to do anything for anyone left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Freddie had a deep love for nature and was especially passionate about protecting turtles. He never passed by one struggling to cross the road without stopping to safely relocate it, ensuring it would not be harmed. This simple act reflected his kindness, compassion, and respect for all living things.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Rudolph and Carrie Lupton Lewis; brothers, Lynn and Roy Lewis; sister, Ann Lewis; and daughter, Penelope “Penny” Ann Lewis.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Ronda Lewis; son, Freddie R. Lewis, Jr. (Ghersal); brother, Allen Lewis; sister, Phyllis Price; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home, with Rev. Earl Sadler, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
