Freddie Larry Reynolds, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on his birthday, March 8, 2025.A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 2:00PM at the Pleasant Memory Baptist Church. Pastor Dan Deaton will be officiating the service.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 11 from 1:00PM to 1:45PM at the Pleasant Memory Baptist Church.
He grew up in Charlestown, Indiana, with his parents, two sisters, and a brother. He was an avid athlete, and played basketball and baseball. He was a lifeguard as well. He graduated from Charlestown High School. He worked at the Ford factory in Louisville, Kentucky, until he was drafted into military service. He rose to the rank of Sergeant, serving in the Military Police in the United States Army. He served our country on a peacekeeping mission to the Dominican Republic and was then stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He then married his first wife, Diane, and they were blessed with a daughter, Elizabeth, and then a son, Larry. He received his Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Central Carolina Technical Institute.
Freddie had over a 32-year career with the Harnett Correctional Institution and then 12 years with the Harnett County Sheriff's Department. Freddie joined Jo-Ann's family when they married in 1995, and he became stepdad to Angela Dillard, Lori Langdon, and Don Moore and became "Granddaddy Freddie" to all their children.
He was an active member of Pleasant Memory Baptist Church. Freddie loved the Masons and was very involved with the Lillington Lodge for 50 years. He had a lifelong passion for horses and bred and raised them for years. He maintained a large collection of Breyer horses. He enjoyed watching baseball games at Campbell University and was an active follower of college basketball. He always preferred any team from Indiana, especially the Hoosiers. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and you could often find him watching Westerns or listening to Bluegrass music. He doted on his family.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents Horace and Bessie Reynolds, his daughter Elizabeth Snow, his sisters Rachel Hensley and Jimmie Reid, and his brother Alvin Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jo-Ann Reynolds, his son Larry (Samantha), their children Andrea Rowe, Bailey Rowe, Hailey Reynolds, and Kadence Reynolds, his grandson Mason Snow (Amanda), his granddaughters Megan West and Melissa Haase, many nieces and nephews, his stepdaughter Angela Dillard and her daughter Ashley Hodges, stepdaughter Lori Langdon (Mark) and their children Nathan Langdon (Victoria, children Elowyn, Rowan, Freya), Anna Langdon (Matt), Caleb Langdon (Allison), Angel Langdon, Sarah Langdon, Kendra Langdon, and Megan Taylor, stepson Don Moore (Laura) and their daughter Olivia.
His Mason brothers will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pleasant Memory Baptist Church.
