Freddy Tarkington of Saginaw, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 4, 1942, Freddy lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
He is survived by his children Kayla Tarkington and son Freddie Tarkington Jr, daughter Sherri and husband Gilbert Morales and their children Gary and wife Lisa Morales; Gilbert Jr. and wife Jennifer; Tommy and wife Shandi Morales; daughters Charise and Maya; daughter Tonya Mayfield and her children Amanda and husband Trevor Coffee; Ashton Mayfield, Christian Mayfield and Connor Mayfield. Charla and Joe Pitts and their children Polly and husband Austin Bethea, Misty and husband Austin Hewitt, Nena and husband Austin Jeter. Daughter Lori and her children, Crystal and husband John Taylor, along with son Jason Murray.
Freddy was preceded in death by his mama and daddy, his wife Rita Kay Tarkington, and Bobby Joe.
Freddy's legacy will continue through his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. He will be remembered for his big heart, his unwavering love for his family, his passion for sports, and his love of karaoke that brought laughter and fun to every gathering. He was a man who never met a stranger, who worked hard, and who found his greatest joy in the people he loved most. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
Graveside services for Freddy will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. A visitation will be held at 11:00am at Edwards Funeral Home Ranger.
