Freddie Joyce "Joy" White

Funeral services for Freddie "Joy" Joyce White, 85 of Vidalia, A will be held at First Baptist Church of Vidalia on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Brad Watson and Bro. Bo Swilley officiating. Interment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Vidalia from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM, Friday, December 26, 2025.

Joy was born on Sunday, September 8, 1940 in Natchez, MS. and passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025 in Natchez, MS. She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia, where her love for the Lord and her church family was clearly seen. True to her name, Joy was exactly that-a joy to everyone who knew her. During times when she needed help herself, she still became a favorite of every caregiver and helper, lifting others with her kindness and gentle spirit. Joy was a charitable and giving soul; whether someone needed a ride, a listening ear, or a few dollars, she was always willing to help without hesitation. A devoted homemaker, she poured love into her family and cherished time spent together-cooking meals, swimming at the senior center, and especially cheering from the ballpark as she proudly watched her children and grandchildren play. Her joy lives on in every heart she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Frederick Houghton and Jessal Traxler Houghton, two sons, Robert Howard Stanley and Vernon "Doonie" White, daughter, Pamelia Diane White, two brothers, Joseph Richard Houghton and Harold Dix Houghton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Vernon "Doonie" White of Vidalia, LA; four sons, Jason Scott Stanley Sr. of Vidalia, LA, Sessions Vestal and his wife Breanna of Vidalia, LA, Blake Stanley of Monroe, LA, and Christian Froust of Vidalia, LA; three daughters, Cynthia Gwen Spearman of Pinson, AL, Rhonda Renee Byrne of Ocena Springs, MS., Anna Maria White of Mountain Home, AR, Brooke Stanley of WI; brother, Jerry Houghton and his wife Vickie of Sicily Island, LA; sister, Jan Smith and her husband Bill of Marksville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Sessions Vestal, Blake Stanley, Cody White, Karlton Hoffpauir, Seth Stanley and Timothy Houghton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Stanley and Christian Froust .
