Freddy Gene Baker, 83, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on August 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Fred was born on March 29, 1942, to Ewell Edgar and Lois (Rowland) Baker in Kennett, Missouri. He married Mary Turner on June 20, 1986, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Fred served in the Army from 1968-1972, as a causality clerk during the Vietnam War. He retired as Vice President of Commerce Bank where he worked from 1973-2004. Fred's passion was fishing, fishing, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family on Kentucky Lake fishing and is now fishing in heaven.

Fred is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary; one daughter, Lisa Baker Gibbs (Graham); one stepson, Shane Meloy; one grandson, Thiago Meloy; brothers, Bob Baker, Ronnie Baker (Shirley), and Randy Baker (Debbie); along with nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lois; one sister-in-law, Kay Baker.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to UCAN.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, from 10am-11am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 11am with Pastor Gene Riddle officiating. Burial will take place at Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
