Obituary for Freddy Rivas ("Sporty Lokz")
Freddy Rivas, was born on June 13, 1976, in El Salvador, to Nelson and Daisy Rivas. He grew up and spent most of his life in Palmdale, California, where he passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 49.
Freddy is survived by his parents, Nelson and Daisy; his children, Natalie, Melissa, Joshua, and Jacob; his cherished grandchildren, Liam and Xander; and his brothers, Ivan, Ronny, and Dennis. He also held a special fatherly bond with his nephews Anthony and Ivan, who were like sons to him.
Freddy worked in landscape design and maintenance with Local 300 where he graduated to journeyman May 31, 2025, where his talent for creating beautiful gardens reflected his love of nature. He found joy in caring for plants and making things grow.
Known for his gentle, kind, funny, stubborn, and loving nature, Freddy touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a proud Raiders fan, a great cook with his own unique style in the kitchen, and a man who preferred the company of children over adults - often saying he'd "hang out with kids all day, every day." Freddy was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether friend or stranger, and he had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Above all, Freddy valued his faith in Jehovah, speaking about Him often and finding joy in sharing spiritual encouragement. Family was the heart of his life, and he is the reason his loved ones remain so close today. His legacy of love, unity, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Freddy will be deeply missed, but we hold fast to the hope Jehovah promises - that we will see him again. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Freddy, please visit our Tree Store.
