Frederic R. Hildebrandt

Frederic R. "Fred" Hildebrandt, of Wayland, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 3, 2024. He was 88.
Born in Medford on April 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Otto and Irene (Breault) Hildebrandt and brother to Lillian Cliggott and Robert Hildebrandt who predeceased him.
Fred was an avid baseball player, first for Medford High School then for Dartmouth College where he pursued a degree in engineering. Active until late in life, he loved to sail, golf, play tennis, jog, and most recently bocce.
An accomplished businessman, Fred held executive positions with Fortune 500 companies as well as venture capital startups.
Fred's beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia (MacDonald) Hildebrandt, passed away the day after him on October 4, 2024. They were high school sweethearts who spent the best part of their retirement traveling the world together. He will be forever missed by his three daughters, Nancy Warren of Rochester, NH, Jody Marcoux and her husband Paul of Sudbury, MA, and Betsy Hildebrandt and her husband Kevin Varney of Washington, DC. Fred has six grandchildren, Kristen and Matthew Warren, Charlotte and David Marcoux, and Julia and John Varney (deceased).
In honor of their wishes, the family will have a private celebration of Pat and Fred's lives at the Dee Funeral Home of Concord, MA, followed by a burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred's memory may be made to Nashoba Learning Group and Mid-Atlantic Make-A-Wish.
