Frederic Bruce "Fred" Weikart

Frederic "Fred" Bruce Weikart, 92, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Friday, November 28, 2025, at Chardon Woods, Chardon, Ohio.
He was born February 8, 1933, in Columbiana County, Ohio, and spent his early years in Washingtonville, Ohio. He was the son of Walter Bruce Weikart and Florence (Bush) Wei kart. The family ultimately settled in Kiwanis Lake, Newbury, Ohio when Fred was a young boy. Fred graduated from Newbury High School where he was Class President and played Six Man Football for the Black Knights.
Fred served in The United States Army in The Korean War Conflict during 1953 and 1954. He married Agnes Mary Kamenca on February 23, 1957. They were married for 66 years until her passing on November 1, 2023. They made their home on Rider Road in Burton which was a beautiful setting and home that they were very proud of. They raised their two children there and spent their entire married life there. Over the years they did quite a bit of traveling including Europe, Canada, Aruba, Hawaii and many trips to Florida.
He was an outdoorsman and very handy. He hunted, trapped and fished. He especially enjoyed fishing with various family members at The Davis Family Lake. Over the years there was much entertaining on Rider Road. He was always the head cook for pig roasts and fish and frog leg cookouts.
He had a strong work ethic and held several jobs over the years including operating and selling heavy equipment, selling insurance and he and Agnes owned and operated The Switching Post Restaurant in Windsor, Ohio in the 1970's. The whole family worked there, and many great friendships and memories were made.
Fred is survived by a daughter, Andrea Hampton and her husband Douglas of Cortland; a son, Eric Weikart and his wife Kim of Burton; a brother Charles and his wife Carolyne; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, a sister Peggy Larue (Weikart) Kozelka predeceased him.
A private burial service will be held with the family at Welton Cemetery in Burton.
