Frederick William Aker, 94 of Ocala, Florida passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026.
He was born in Monroeville, Indiana on September 10, 1931, to Rev. William Aker and Ester Ida Aker. (nee Ulhman). He was formerly married to Ann Farr Linder with whom he raised three sons.
Frederick William Aker, better known as "Bill" to his family and friends, will forever be remembered as a devout Christian, dedicated family man and loving father. After losing his own father at an early age, Bill was raised by his mother and older sisters in Cincinnati, Ohio. Displaying a strong work ethic and a positive outlook, he worked part time at a young age to help support his family, and excelled in both his academic and athletic pursuits during his formative years. After high school, Bill served two years of active duty in the United States Army Signals Corp. and was stationed at remote outposts in Formosa (Taiwan) and throughout the Far East. Following his military service, he obtained an engineering degree at the University of Cincinnati, and then joined the Cincinnati Milling Machine Company (later Milacron). Bill worked in numerous service and sales roles at Milacron spanning his 30-plus year executive career.
Upon retirement, Bill moved from Connecticut to Ocala, Florida where he maintained a vibrant and passionate lifestyle. Friends and neighbors expressed amazement at his frequent "comings and goings" as he remained active working as a local real estate agent, volunteering within the community and serving in important roles for his beloved church. In his leisure time, Bill thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis and softball with his “OTOW" (On Top of the World) buddies, and he developed strong friendships at all the communities he called home in Ocala. Perhaps the greatest joy Bill had in his later years was traveling to see his family and grandchildren, whom he lovingly cherished. Bill closely followed both his children’s and grandchildren’s lives with pride and wonderment and was always available to provide heartfelt support and wisdom. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his younger brother Richard Louis Aker of Milford, Ohio, and three adult sons and their families; Timothy William Aker, of Longboat Key, Florida (Grandchildren Brian and Gavin Aker of NJ); Dean and Kathy Aker, of Colorado Springs, Colorado (Grandchildren Lindsay and Harrison Aker) ; and Christopher and Marybeth Aker, of Amston, Connecticut (Grandchildren Mariah, Christopher and Olivia Aker).
He is preceded in death by his sisters Anna Aker Littmann of Middletown, OH and Virginia Aker Rempe of Cincinnati, OH and his Grandson, Samuel Cole Aker, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 10:00 AM March 12, 2026, at Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS) 5200 SW College Rd. Ocala, FL 34474 followed by interment at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
