Frederick T. "Fred" Busker Jr.

Frederick T. (Fred) Busker, age 85, passed away on April 29, 2025, at Medina Nursing Center in Durand, IL. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Freeport, IL, to Frederick and Ethlyn (Kohn) Busker. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1957 and attended Carthage College and Highland Community College. Fred married Sue Strohacker on August 6, 1960, in Freeport, IL but they separated later in life.
For many years, Fred worked at Micro Switch (Honeywell) as a purchasing agent. His career took him to Intel and Viewmaster in Portland, OR, and then back to the area in other manufacturing businesses. He was also a courier for Premier Financial in Freeport, and Citizens State Bank in Lena.
Fred enjoyed camping and much of the country was seen by car. Some of his favorite places were by the Mississippi River and Lake Superior. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, ice fishing, and deer hunting. Fred had an eye for photography and enjoyed taking nature pictures. He was also an avid Packer Fan.
Fred is survived by his children, Brad (Vicki) Busker, Pecatonica, IL and Mindy (David) Borgmann, Dakota, IL. Grandchildren, Ashley (Justin Fargher) Busker, Courtney (Will) Beavan, Joshua Busker, Taylor (Miguel) Paguntalan, and Jordyn (Jake Wickman) Borgmann. And three great-grandchildren, Asher Beavan, and Theo and Oliver Paguntalan. Sister, Sharon Campbell of Tuscola. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joel Busker, and sister Genene St. John.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Medina Nursing Center for the wonderful care Fred received.
Cremation rights have been arranged, and private family services will be held at a later date.
