Frederick E. Cassady, 89, of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on December 31, 2025, while under the compassionate care of Shriver’s Hospice.
Fred was born on March 21, 1936, in Marietta, Ohio. He was the son of the late Wilbur and Irene (Bush) Cassady. Fred retired after 30 years of employment with Ohio Ferro Alloys. He also worked for more than 20 years as a building maintenance man at the Zanesville Country Club and later for McHugh’s Auto in Zanesville as a driver. A man of strong faith, Fred was a faithful member of Duncan Falls Baptist Church.
Fred enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR races, going to car shows, and had a special love for old cars.
He is survived by his son, Donald (Rhonda) Cassady; grandchildren, Eric (Mary) Cassady, Nick (Rachel) Cassady, Tyler (Sheridan) Cassady, Taylor (Travis) DeVault, Brody (Kaci) Searls, and Jordon Searls; great-grandchildren, Camryn, Carsyn, Cora, Raylan, Luke, Claire, Navie, Brayden, Kali, Anthony, and Brynlee; a great-great-granddaughter, Jourdyn; his brother, Gary (Ida) Cassady; and his stepdaughter, Vicki (Jim) Stanbery.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris J. Cassady, who passed away on December 2, 2020; his daughter, Cyndy Harris, who passed away on April 28, 2025; a granddaughter, Angie Shipley; and a brother, Melvin Cassady.
The Cassady family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Shriver’s Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Fred, especially Pam Dailey and Donna Reid.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Fred’s name to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Gerry Wade will officiate. Fred will be laid to rest at a later date in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
