Frederick D. Engels February 13, 1943 – October 30, 2025 Scranton, PA, Formerly of Highland Falls, NY
Frederick Denton Engels, age 82, of Scranton, PA, entered into eternal rest at the Allied Services Scranton Hospice Center in Scranton, PA, on October 30, 2025. Born at the Cornwall Hospital on February 13, 1943, to the late Frederick W. and Charity (Denton) Engels, who were both longtime residents of Highland Falls.
He graduated from Highland Falls High School in 1961 and lived in Highland Falls for 62 years. Fred has two daughters born in 1971 and 1976, Kristine of Charlotte, NC, & Tanya of Benson, MN. He joined the USNR in 1961 and served two years of active duty on a Radar Ship in the North Atlantic. He was employed for 33 years at the West Point Post Office and retired in 1998. He was also employed part-time at the West Point Craft Shop. After retirement, he moved to NC in 2005 and came back up north in 2010 and spent those years in the Poconos in PA.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Beth Mohr-Engels, daughters, Kristine Charity Engels and Tanya Elizabeth Rudnick, and her husband, David, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service was held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Peacedale Cemetery in Highland Falls, NY.
