Frederick “Fred” A. Legate, 84, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Lawlis Family Hospice with his family by his side.
Fred was born on March 31, 1941, in Neillsville to the late Robert and Laura (nee Pitts) Legate. Fred was united in marriage to Charlotte Schumacher on October 29, 1960. He spent most of his life as a tool & die maker.
Those left to cherish Fred’s memory include his three children, Tim (Emily) Legate of West Bend, Dan (Nancy) Legate of West Bend, and Tom (Kathy) Legate of Hartland; nine grandchildren, Tiffany (James) Anhalt, Austin, Sarah, Joe (Natalie), and Steven (Emily) Legate, Andrew and Alex Helman, Noah and Kayla Janke; two great-grandchildren, Xander and Daniel Anhalt; sister, Pat Legate; brother, Ron Legate; sisters-in-law, Aggie Legate and Caroline Reich; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his son in infancy; brothers, Jim Legate, Milton (Marge) Legate, and Don (Rose) Legate, Tom Legate; sisters, Roberta Zastrow and Genevieve “Jenny” (Jim) Whitt; brothers-in-law, Arnold “Arnie” Schumacher, Howard “Howie” Schumacher, and Richard “Lefty” Reich; and sister in infancy, Betty.
VISITATION: Fred’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (7750 State Highway 144, West Bend – 53090), starting at 2:00 p.m. until 4:15 p.m.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A Memorial Service for Fred will be held following the visitation at the church at 4:30 p.m. Fred will be inurned at Washington County Memorial Park in a private family service.
