Frederick L. "Fred" Gingell

Frederick L. Gingell, age 62, of Metamora, passed away on December 5, 2025. Fred was born in Lapeer on April 27, 1963, to parents Frederick and Shirley Gingell.
Fred grew up in Oxford, MI, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Alba Paese. They've lived in the Hadley/Metamora area the majority of their married life, where they built a home and raised their two beautiful children. Their home is a very welcoming place where Fred ensured every guest felt instantly welcome with a genuine smile, a strong handshake or bear hug, and a cold drink.
Fred was a man who appreciated the simple things in life: the tranquility of nature while hunting, the love of his family, the camaraderie of friends, and his timeless passion for John Wayne movies. He cherished moments with his loved ones, especially his six grandchildren. His ability to playfully tease others while sharing genuine LOVE for laughter made him a very warm and lovable person to be around.
Fred, a man with a very strong work ethic, worked in construction his entire career. He spent over 20 years co-owning a company with his father (and, for a short time, his cousin) in commercial foundations and excavation, then transitioned into co-owning a quality control materials testing company in Burton, MI, for the last 15 years.
His entire family will deeply miss him, and all who knew him will forever cherish the memory of his infectious laugh.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Alba Gingell; daughter Katrina (Zach) Hill; son Frederick (Sarah) Gingell; grandchildren Elliott, Harlan, Vail, Scotland, Rhys, and Monroe; sister Tammy (Thom) Halsey; father and mother-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and some true life-long friends. Fred was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Fred and Shirley Gingell.
We will be having a Celebration of Life honoring Fred at Boulder Pointe Golf Club and Banquet Center in Oxford, MI, on Friday, December 12th at Noon, with food and fellowship to follow. There will be a time for gathering with family and friends preceding the ceremony from 11 am to noon.
Please feel free to come in your flannel and jeans, as this was his favorite attire. Any flowers sent in Fred's memory are welcomed and appreciated.
