Frederick C. "Rick" Lees Jr.

Glocester - Frederick C. "Rick" Lees Jr., 81, of Chepachet, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. Rick was the beloved husband of Lois R. (Gundlach) Lees for 52 years, who preceded him in death in 2018. They were truly soulmates. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, especially enjoying vacations in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Bermuda-places that became dear to their hearts.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Rick was the son of Frederick C. Lees and Ruth (Franklin) Lees. He had been a resident of Chepachet for the past 40 years. Rick graduated from North Providence High School, where he also played football, and later attended the University of Rhode Island. He also earned a degree from the Rhode Island Radio and School of Electronics (RISE). It was his hands-on skills and love of fixing things that truly defined him. There was no problem too big for Rick to solve.

Rick's career was as diverse as his skills. He spent the last thirty years working as a master mechanical engineer at F.G. Lees and Son, a company once owned by his great-grandfather. He took great pride in his work, often serving as a mentor and teacher to others. Before that, Rick worked at Amperex Electronics in North Smithfield, RI, Idelnot Dairy in Springfield, Vermont, followed by power equipment sales, including as co-owner of R&L Power Equipment in North Smithfield with Lois; Stateline Power Equipment; Jonsered; and Husqvarna. He continued to work full-time at F.G. Lees and Son, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

An avid outdoorsman, Rick loved hunting and was a proud member of the Manville Sportsmen's Rod & Gun Club. His passion for hunting matched his love for antique cars, particularly his prized hot rod. He was a fixture in the community, often sharing stories over breakfast with his close-knit group of friends before heading to work. Among his proudest moments was the display of his prized 11-point deer (a 163 Boone and Crockett score from 2004) and plaque displayed at the club, a testament to his hunting prowess.

Above all, Rick will be remembered for his selflessness, his willingness to lend a hand, and his gift for storytelling. He was a loving husband and brother, a devoted father, a loyal friend, and someone who always put others first.

Rick is survived by his two loving daughters, Faith D. Helm and her husband Michael of South Kingstown, and Sherri A. Collins and her husband Sean of Chepachet. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughter, Madalynn Sands, his sister, Nancy Scuncio (Anthony) of North Providence, and his brothers, Dean Lees (Linda) of Lincoln and Jeff Lees (Jean) of Candia, NH, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 11-1 P.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln followed by a Service at 1 P.M. His burial will be at a later date.
