Frederick J. Luttgens III

Frederick J. Luttgens III, 46, of Linden, passed away on Sunday, October 12, after a courageous second battle with cancer.

Fred was born in Elizabeth in 1979, and raised in Linden, attending Linden High School. After graduating, he worked for Pitney Bowes, Rahway, for some time before working as a mechanic at Tomahawk Concrete Cutting in North Brunswick, where he continued to work for almost 20 years.

Fred lived life to the fullest and was fueled by many passions, which included hunting, fishing, hiking, off-roading, mountain biking, and retail therapy. He was an outdoorsman through and through, happiest in the mountains and nature.

After beating childhood cancer, he realized the importance of family and friends, and cherished them above all else. Fred was the kind of son, brother, uncle, "funcle," and friend who could always be counted on – loyal and ready with a helping hand or a good laugh. His warmth, sense of humor, courage, and unforgettable presence will live on in the countless memories and love he shared, and he will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his parents, Frederick J. Jr., and Beverly Luttgens, his siblings, Pamela and her husband James Smith of Marlboro, Jill and her husband James Maroney of Howell, and Matthew and his wife Angie of Freehold, his nieces and nephew Marissa (and her husband Ryan Maddern), Ian, Rachel, and Anastasia, and great nephew and niece Cameron and Amelia.

Visitation will be offered on Saturday, October 18 from 10 am – 1pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A prayer service will be offered at 1pm.
