Frederick "Rick" McCarthy

PEABODY – Mr. Frederick "Rick" McCarthy 65, of Peabody husband of Karen (Pierce) McCarthy, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 24th, 2022.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joan M. (Andrews) (McCarthy) Aguirre and the late Frederick E. McCarthy. He was raised and educated in Salem and Beverly.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Airforce.
Mr. McCarthy was a talented Chef. He was passionate about his career and worked in restaurants all over the North Shore as well as Las Vegas, NV. More recently, he was a beloved bartender at the Peabody Elks and the V.F.W. in Peabody. He always served his patrons with a smile and was quick to act upon their requests. He was often "the favorite" of many of the members.
A long-time, well-known resident of Peabody, Rick was an active member and Lecturing Knight of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1409 in Peabody. He enjoyed playing darts and was a member of the travel darts team at the Elks. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Fidelity Post #1011 of Peabody. A truly passionate New England Patriots fan, Rick loved watching the games as well as the 3 Stooges and Mash. He was an avid collector, loved to spend time with friends and visit Las Vegas. Above all else, family was at the heart of who Rick was. He was happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved them dearly and will be deeply missed.
He has now joined his beloved daughter Chelsea in heaven.
Rick is survived by his wife, Karen (Pierce) McCarthy of Peabody, his sons, Ryan McCarthy and his wife, Brenda of Beverly and Tyler McCarthy and his fiancé, Marissa Moore, his granddaughters, Danielle and Anastasia, his son-in-law, Zachary Cupo, his sister, Gail Goodapple of Nashua, NH, his nieces and nephews, Steven, Laura, Kendra, Ethan, Xander, Kiera, his great nieces and great nephews, Brooke, Jessi, Carly, Amber, and Payton. He was the devoted father of the late Chelsea Cupo, who passed away, January 16, 2022, and the brother of the late Daniel Stepenuck.
