Frederick Lawrence Ottaway, known as Fred to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at McLaren Port Huron Hospital. Born on October 1, 1956, in Port Huron, Michigan, Fred was the cherished son of the late Frederick and Delores (Mosurak) Ottaway.
Fred's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his commitment to his work. He is survived by his loving daughters, Michelle (Nick) Senyk, Kristina Ottaway, and Lindsay Ottaway; grandchildren, Cory Negowski, Jacob Negowski, Wyatt Senyk, Parker Senyk, Kobi Moretz, Breanna Moretz, Karleee McNutt, and Hunter McNutt; siblings, Kathleen (Curtis) Taylor and Patrick (Patricia Grow) Ottaway; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Fred's career was characterized by over four decades of loyal service at Smith Meat Packing. His work ethic and integrity were unparalleled. Fred was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He was happiest when he was in the woods, hunting, or at the range, sharing his love for shooting guns with friends and family. His passion for the outdoors was only matched by his love for a cold beer, his Jeep, and the simple pleasures of life.
A gathering and viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, MI 48060.
