Frederick William Sievers II, "Fred"

July 23, 1949 – August 25, 2025

Frederick William Sievers II, affectionately known as Fred, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at HMH Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Virginia Langhorne Sievers and William Daniel Sievers. Fred grew up in Fair Haven, New Jersey, on McCarter Avenue, and spent several years of his childhood living in Japan.

He graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 1967 and went on to study at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, earning his degree in 1972.

Fred's lifelong love of aviation began at Red Bank Airport, where he first met his wife. On August 8, 1970, he married Constance Vining, and together they raised their daughter in Ocean Township, New Jersey.

Fred worked as a line mechanic for Eastern Airlines from 1973 to 1988 and later enjoyed a long career with Yulista Aviation Inc., retiring in 2023.

He proudly served as Fire Chief of the Oakhurst Fire Department in 1990 and remained an active member for most of his life, marking 40 years of service in 2019. He was well known for flipping pancakes at the annual Breakfast with Santa and loved cooking for family and friends. A devoted NASCAR fan, he loved all forms of racing and could often be found working on cars with friends at Wall Stadium Speedway. He also cherished time with friends at his favorite local spots, including Parkhills, the Sitting Duck, and the Pour House.

In retirement, Fred made his home at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, where he was surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Deborah Leddy, and son-in-law, Patrick Leddy of Westfield, NJ; and his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Payton, and Taylor, who lovingly called him Grandpa Fred.

He will be remembered for his warm heart, generosity, passion for aviation and racing, and devotion to his family and community.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ, on Sunday, September 7, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Fire Department memorial services will be held at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Following services, all are welcome to join us at the Oakhurst Fire Department for a reception in honor of Fred.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Frederick . I haven´t seen him since we were probably kid, but I do have fond memories of Aunt Virginia and her precious son. My grandmother , Roberta , was her sister . My mom, Mary Agnes, use to always take us to Richmond when we were young to visit. My siblings and I always enjoyed this so much . So glad that Frederick had a great life with so many people who loved him. Sending prayers and hugs to his daughter and her family .
