Frederick W. Steffens, age 85, passed away December 27, 2024 at his home in Concord Twp. He was born April 23, 1939 in the family home in Thompson, Ohio to the late Theodore and Pauline (Pobuski) Steffens.
Frederick was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Painesville and shared his faith in Jesus Christ with anyone he could. He served on various boards and committees and taught adult Sunday School. He also served by leading church services at various nursing homes in the area. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time but especially enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice (Sippola) Steffens, son Jonathan (Wanda) Steffens and his daughter, Julie (Darrell) Moses. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren Brittany, Sydney, and Savannah Steffens and Joshua and Jacob Moses as well as 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother William (Clarice) Steffens. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Martha.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 3, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Funeral services will follow at noon with Rev. Dr. Kurt Ziemann officiating. A private burial with military honors will be held at a later date.
