Charlton: Frederick H. Stevens, 90, of Freeman Rd., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 30th, in UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.

He leaves his long-time companion of 35 years, Madeline Dryden; his three sons, Joseph Stevens and his wife Monica of Charlton, Doni Stevens and his wife Stacy of Charlton and Richard Adams of Florida; his five daughters, Karen White and her husband Jeff of Charlton, Pamela Adams and her fiancée Alan Leone of Charlton, Sue Lawrie and her husband Scott of Florida, Michelle Mathelier and her husband Fred of Brockton and Cindy Thibaudeau of Charlton; his ex-wife, Diane Poulin of Charlton; his two brothers, Charlie Stevens and his wife Norma of Oakhill, FL and Willard Stevens of Charlton; three sisters, Dora Davis of Charlton, Diane Leite of Charlton and Debbie Jones and her husband Jim of Oakhill, FL; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Frederick was predeceased by a son, Fred I. Stevens; a brother, Henry Stevens and six sisters, Eleanor White, Eva Aubin Ester Davis, Bernice Stone-Kirwin, Joan Philbrook and Grace Sharpe.

He was born in Charlton the son of Ira and Grace (Latour) Stevens. Frederick grew up in Charlton and owned and operated Stevens Auto Wrecking in Charlton for more than 50 years. He loved the family business and could often be seen driving all his heavy equipment around the property. Frederick had a great sense of humor and a laugh that could be heard for miles. He was a member of the Charlton Fire Department for many years and volunteered his business for several training exercises to help educate members in vehicle fires as well as vehicle extrication. Frederick and Lynn enjoyed taking time away to winter in Oakhill, FL yearly with family.

A funeral service for Frederick will be held on Monday, Jan. 5th at 11:00 AM in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. A calling hour will be held on Monday, Jan 5th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Westridge Cemetery, Charlton.
