Frederick W. "Fred" Sweeney

Frederick William Sweeney "Fred" of Roslindale, MA passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024. He was 86 years old. Son of the late Katherine and Frederick Sweeney. Youngest brother to the late Patricia Ashman, Marilyn Honkalehto, and Dorothy Bilodeau. Fred leaves his wife of 55 years, Ann (McCool) Sweeney, and their children: Mike Sweeney and his wife Lindsey Pitt of San Francisco, Matt Sweeney and his wife Sharon Dussault of Amesbury, Meagen Sweeney and her husband Stephen Mitchell of West Roxbury. Loving Papa to Joey, Celia, and Freya. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Fred attended Boston English High School and enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 17. After the service Fred went to work at the US Post Office for 42 years and spent most of his career at the South Postal annex. He was a hard working, loving father who enjoyed watching a good Western, the Red Sox, and being in the company of his many friends at Kelleher's. He will be deeply missed. Funeral is a private family service.
