Frederick "Fred" Vestea, was born on February 21, 1946, and passed away on May 12, 2025, in Middletown. Fred's journey through life was one of passion, dedication, and love, ending peacefully at the age of 79.
Fred's early years were spent in the Bronx and later in the Hudson Valley, NY. His vibrancy and zest for life carried with him always. His youthful days were filled with adventure and the forming of bonds and friendships that would, and have, lasted a lifetime. Fred's heart found its match in Barbara, with whom he shared over 50 years of unwavering love and companionship. Although Barbara preceded him in death, their love story remains a testament to enduring partnership.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including his caring son, Christopher, his devoted daughter, Kimberly, and his adored grandson, Joseph. Fred's life was further enriched by his sister Eleanor, who survives him, and he is preceded in death by his baby brother, Walter. The family was the cornerstone of Fred's world, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, resilience, and humor.
Fred's professional life was marked by his significant contributions to Local 113 and the Bridge Painters of 806. Known as a legend among his union brothers, Fred's dedication to his craft was unparalleled. His heart belonged to the Bridge Painters of 806, where he not only mastered his trade but also became a mentor to many. Fred's wisdom extended beyond the technical aspects of painting bridges; he imparted lessons on patience, safety, and the invaluable insights that come with years of hands-on experience.
As we bid farewell to Fred, we celebrate a well-lived life, marked by the many people he touched. His spirit will continue to live on through his family, his work, and the many memories shared by those who loved him.
Here's to Jack! Salute!!
