Daniel T. McCann Jr., known lovingly as "Crowbar" to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2025 at the age of 71. He was born on June 17, 1954 in the Bronx to Daniel T. McCann Sr. and Muriel June Rausch. At the age of 5, Dan and his family moved to New Jersey, where Dan began to develop his lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. In the summer of 1980 Dan's family purchased the McCann Compound, a 24-acre property in Bullville, NY. In 1988, Dan married the love of his life Maria, and in 1990 they welcomed their daughter Chelsea. In 1998, together they purchased their forever home in Circleville, NY. From his early years at Waldwick High School, Daniel's penchant for building and fixing things was evident. This passion led him to establish McCann's Traveling Welding and later Dan McCann General Contracting. His work was not only a reflection of his carpentry skills, but also his imagination and creativity. Riding was not just a hobby to Dan, but a way of life. He was a proud member of the Cycle Lords Motorcycle Club for 49 years. From his love/hate relationship with "Nadine" his '63 Pan, to his trusted fleet of Heritages, riding was his passion. His passion for riding coincided with a love of travel – or at least the destination. He hated jamming his 6'2" frame into planes, trains, and automobiles, but once he got to his destination and on his two wheels, he was ready to enjoy the ride. Riding around the country and visiting America's National Parks were some of his fondest memories. Dan was an avid fisherman – he enjoyed the peace and quiet, unless he was with Maria or Chelsea who managed to get him tangled up every 15 minutes. Dan's sense of humor was as legendary as his nickname. He had a knack for finding humor in the every day. Above all, Dan was a loving husband and riding partner to his wife Maria, and a devoted father to the light of his life Chelsea Leigh. His favorite thing in the world to do was whatever he was doing with Chelsea. Dan gained a son when Chelsea met and married Leeboy. The love that he had for his family was immeasurable. Dan is survived by his wife Maria Tempio McCann, his daughter Chelsea McCann Dempsey, his bonus son Lee Dempsey, his sister Elaine Teller, his brother Bruce McCann, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Janet McCann. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 5pm-8pm at Applebee McPhillips, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940.
