Fred Wallace, 86, of Whispering Pines in Plover, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026.
Born March 30, 1939 in Stevens Point, Fred was the son of Charles and Myra Wallace. He attended local schools. After high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. From there, he began work in Milwaukee at Briggs & Stratton. After moving back to Stevens Point and reuniting with his sweetheart Jane, he started work at Consolidated Papers. He also grew his own snowplowing business. Fred and Jane (Sager) were united in marriage in February 24, 1962 and raised 3 children.
Fred had many side jobs and enjoyed woodworking building furniture and many wooden crafts. He took pride in maintaining his immaculate lawn. Fred loved fishing, hunting, camping and his winter home in Florida. He and Jane enjoyed the annual trips to Mexico with friends Pat and Dave. He made many lasting friendships throughout the years.
He is survived by his children: Gary (Michelle) of Amherst Junction, Lori of Las Vegas, and Bill (Stephanie) of Almond, 5 grandchildren: Andrew, Derek, Kyle, Emma (Nathaniel), Michaela (Taylor) Kim, and 2 great-grandchildren: Jayden Wallace and Paedyn Kim; his two sisters Linda Shulfer and Sharon Monear. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, and grandson Andrew.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Whispering Pines and the Lodge at Whispering Pines where he received great care over the last few years, St. Croix Hospice for all the support to Fred and the family during the last few months, and to all friends and family who visited him.
A memorial service for Fred will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
