Frederick E. Whitcher, a beloved resident of Northfield, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on October 14th, 1923, in Franklin, NH, Fred lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theatre of Operations. Following his service, he pursued higher education and graduated from the University of New Hampshire, class of 1949.
Soon after, Fred embarked on a distinguished 39-year career as an Accountant and Finance Manager with the Johns Mansville/Quin-T Corporation, where he was employed from 1949 until his retirement in 1988. His expertise and commitment greatly contributed to the company's success and growth.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Fred was actively engaged with his community. In October 2024, he was honored as the proud recipient of the Boston Post Cane, celebrating his status as Northfield's oldest resident, shortly after marking his 100th birthday.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph D. Whitcher and Catherine (Myres) Whitcher. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Park Cemetery in Tilton.
