Frederick Young Obituary
Frederick R. Young, 67, of Mt. Vernon passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at his home. Fred was born in Evansville, IN on February 23, 1956, the son of William R. Young and Thelma L. (Clayton) Wright. He married his sweetheart, Bonnie (Bebout) Young on June 29, 1974, in Mt. Vernon and she survives.
Fred was a 1975 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was an avid Elvis fan and he loved going to Graceland. His life rotated around his grandchildren and loved to attend his grandkid's games. He loved working on vehicles and woodworking in his younger years and could fix anything.
Fred is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Tammy (John) Lyke of New Harmony, Brad (Jennifer) Young of Evansville, and Mary (Eric) Hershberger of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Jordan Lyke, Wyatt Lyke, Bryce Young, Thomas Owens, Sarah Cardenas, Tyler Owens, Tucker (Amber) Steele, Trevor Owens, Bradley Young, Kendrick and Gunner Hershberger; great-grandchildren, Piper Hogan, Rhett Lyke, and Stephen Cardenas; sister, Mavis Farmer of Connecticut. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, John, Dwight Marvel, George, Wayne, Billy Donald, and Jim Young, and sister, Wilma Harris.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com

Grandpa always gave me memories, he told me stories that could last hours long. I'd normally just listen, but when I heard he'd past.. I couldn't help but think about all the times he'd tell me about them stories. If only I could go back in time and share one more memory with him.
