Richmond Community—At the age of 90, Fredna Mae “Freddie” Rhudy went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Freddie was born August 20, 1934, in Nettleton to Thomas and Alma Starling Cooper. In 1953 this young nineteen year old married her soul mate, James Artis Rhudy and they celebrated 36 years before his passing in 1989. Freddie was a woman with a strong work ethic which she passed on to her three children. For over 40 years until her retirement she worked for Reed Manufacturing. She and her husband also owned and operated Evergreen Fish and Steak House where she was known throughout the community for her amazing talent as a cook and baker. Freddie was famous for her delicious pies which she shared with all her family and neighbors. Her chocolate pie in particular was a crowd favorite and she continued to bless others right up until her final days. Freddie found great joy and happiness in sharing with those around her. She had a quick wit and delightful sense of humor. A woman of great faith, Freddie was a member of Richmond Pentecostal Church.
Freddie leaves behind three children, Shirley Rhudy Davis of Hernando, Terry Lynn Rhudy of Evergreen Community, and Jerry Glynn Rhudy and wife, Lisa, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Heather Hunter and husband, Frank, Angela Scott, Brittany Rhudy Cook, and Jeremy Rhudy and wife, Hope; great-grandchildren, Kolton Scott, Gabby Hunter, Cooper Hunter, Avery Scott, Ryland Hunter, Colton Pinkston, Jacob Rhudy, Ellie Cook, Olivia Rhudy, and Evie Cook; her sister, Ruth Ann King; special friend, Joyce Hughes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and her siblings, Homer Cooper, Elkin Cooper, Dago Cooper, Thomas Cooper, Corrine McDaniel, and Eloise Cooper.
