Fredrick "Fred" Lee Bee, Sr., a devoted husband, father, great grand Papaw, Papaw Bee, veteran, and community servant, passed away on August 23, 2025. He was a man whose life reflected commitment to family, country, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will long be cherished.

Fred was born and raised with values of perseverance and service, which became the foundation of his life's journey. While in the eighth grade, he met the love of his life, Doris Leone Reed. Their bond, unwavering and true, grew into a lifelong love story. On June 10, 1962, Fred and Doris were married in Weston, West Virginia, beginning a union that would span decades. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Fredrick Lee Bee, Jr. (affectionately known as Freddy) and Terry Lynn Bee.

In 1958, Fred answered the call to serve his country, beginning what would become a distinguished military career. Over 26 years of service, he rose to the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). His dedication and leadership earned him numerous awards and accolades, and in 1984, he honorably retired from the United States Army. Never one to remain idle, Fred embraced many roles after his military service. He became co-owner of City Drive-In Cleaners, dedicated over 20 years to providing security services, and found joy in officiating countless sporting events. For more than 50 years, Fred could be found on courts and fields, respected as a fair and trusted official. Fred's enthusiasm for life extended beyond work. He loved working at carnivals for J.C.'s and had a deep passion for antique cars. His pride and joy was his 1950 Ford Tudor, affectionately named "Thunder," which he proudly displayed at car shows. He also served on numerous boards of directors for both the City of Killeen and the State of Texas, demonstrating his commitment to bettering his community.

Fred will be remembered as a man of honor, joy, and dedication. Whether in uniform, behind the wheel of "Thunder," or standing tall with a referee's whistle, he carried himself with integrity and heart. Above all, his greatest pride was his family, whom he loved unconditionally. Fred leaves behind his beloved wife of over 60 years, Doris, his sons Freddy and Terry, and a host of family, friends, and community members who were blessed to know him. His legacy of service, love, and devotion will live on in all who carry his memory forward.
