Fredy was born on December 30, 1981, at the Camp Lejeune Hospital, in Jacksonville, NC., and he entered his eternal home on January 23, 2025, due to an onset of a sudden illness.
Fredy loved to play basketball even at an early age. He would play for a long time by himself, always cheering himself on when no one else did. He loved to help in any way he could. He always loved with all his heart and soul, and he was loved by anyone who got to know him. He shared his love and joy with anyone who encountered him, making you smile and laugh no matter what the circumstances were. He loved to eat and would never say no to an offer of food.
Fredy, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, joy, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. We were blessed to have him with us for as long as we did. Many people told us that he was lucky to have us as parents, but we were the blessed ones to have him as a son. He was an inspiration to all.
We bid farewell to Wilfredo (Fredy) Luque III, a great son, a true friend and beacon of light, departing way too soon from this world and leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Fredy walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone they encountered with an unforgettable grace.
We were privileged to be able to call him "son, Fredy, mami's helper, papi's man", titles he always smiled with joy when he heard them. He never refused to give a kiss, or a hug if you asked him for it, and it was always a joy for us to be able to hug and kiss him.
Fredy is survived by his loving parents, Wilfredo and Cheryll, and his sister Cristina. Fredy was a cherished grandson of Ingeborg Thompson. He also leaves behind uncles and cousins who adored him dearly. Among them are Leonhard Thompson, DeWayne Thompson, Alexie Luque, David Luque, and a host of cousins who shared in his joyful spirit.
Although Fredy's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
