Freida L. Waller, 89, of Lake Charles, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at her residence with members of her loving family by her side. She was born on August 31, 1935, in Worms, Germany to Edward and Elizabeth Hempel. Freida met the love of her life, Charles E. Waller, and wed him in 1957 while he was stationed in Germany serving in the U.S. Army. After their marriage, they moved to Fort Hood in Killeen, TX.

She was kind and compassionate to all she took care of and never met a stranger. She always had a smile and loved life more than herself. Freida’s life was a life well lived and she mastered all that she set out to do. She worked as an EKG Tech at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick’s Hospital for over 35 years. She was also a Chef and studied Culinary Arts in Switzerland. Her talent at cooking was truly an art form and if you were lucky enough to taste her cooking it was one you would not soon forget.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter, Dorothy Waller, sons, James Waller, Jessie Waller and wife Dena, Ray Waller, Phillip Shell and wife Katie, sister; Bertha Christ, brother; Richard Hempel, 4 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles E. Waller, daughter in laws; Ronda Waller and Christine Waller.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and again Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 12:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Consolata Cemetery.

The family wishes to send special thanks for her caregivers, Linda, Debbie, Patty and Victoria.
