Reverend George Christopher Clark was born on September 13, 1960, to Lorraine Mobley and Rufus Rawls of
Miami, Florida and adopted by Deacon Sylvester Clark and Deaconess Louise Clark of Orlando, Florida. He was their long-awaited child, and they reared him in love and in the admonition of the Lord." He was a very loving and friendly child. His family were faithful members of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida, where he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Lewis Boatman.
He was very active in church, from leading devotion, teaching Sunday School to directing the Youth Choir. He loved to go to church. He attended Orange County Public Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Edgewater High School. After high school, he matriculated to Atlanta Area Technical College in Atlanta Georgia, where he received certification in barbering and cosmetology. After completing his education there, he returned home and began his career as a Master Barber Cosmetologist. He was an entrepreneur, proprietor of Jan-El Unisex Beauty and Nail Salon and Maximum Unisex Haircare. He was a male texturizing technician for Lustrasilk and technical consultant for Barry Fletcher Products. He believed in keeping men and women's hair "healthy" and became known as the "hair doctor." He retired from the hair care industry in 2021 after 31 years. He has always had a love for Gospel Music, and his involvement spans from being a choir director for numerous churches and choirs as well as being a member and co-director of the first organized Orlando Chapter of the GMWA and Winter Park Summer Community Choir. He was also radio announcer for WOKB, Champion Broadcasting Company in 1988. One of his most endearing decisions was when he received the calling from God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on November 19, 1989. He preached his trial sermon at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church--Orlando, Florida December 1989. He enrolled at the International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida and received his Bachelor of Theology degree in 1992. In later years, he became one of the instructors at this seminary. Within the community, Rev. Clark was a former member of 100 Black Men and a member of AACCC (African American Christian Clergy of Central Florida. Reverend Clark was an educational advocate and participated each year as a guest speaker in Orange County Public Schools for its annual "Teach-In."
He challenged school students to excel in their studies.
He was ordained to preach in October 1993 by Rev. Dr. Rollie Murray, Jr. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was called to be the Pastor of Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Tangerine, Florida, October 1993. His steadfast commitment, devotion, and obedience to God are deeply rooted in his religious foundation servant leader, prolific Bible teacher and preacher. He retired from being the Senior Pastor in March of 2025, and became Pastor Emeritus, passing the mantle and charge to his Associate Minister, Rev. Jack Harris, Jr.
He was a member of the Florida General Baptist Convention, and past Second Vice Moderator of the Bethel Baptist Association. He was a degree Prince Hall Mason, Jupiter Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Sylvester and Louise Clark, Lorraine Mobley King and Rutus Rawls; brother, Roman King, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory-his loving wife of 43 years, Judith Yvette Ellis Clark; devoted daughter, Christa Phyette Clark Johnson (Da' Mond); sister, Kawannah King Griffin (Christopher),
Miami, Florida; sister-in law: Cheryl Ellis Jackson (Dennis),
Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law; John Ellis, Jr. (Larolyn),
Orlando, FL and Jeffrey Demetrius Ellis,
Atlanta, GA; God-sisters: Vinell Hardrick, Carolyn Williamson (Rev. Eddie); Godchildren: Allegra Muller, Kierra Hardaway. Brian Robinson, Cobi Stevenson, Chris Cortland, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
