East Providence - Gabriel Ferreira Casador,82, known affectionately as Gabriel to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully at his residence in East Providence on Wednesday October 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on the 7th of June 1943, in Sao Miguel Azores, he was a cherished son of the late Faustino and Urselina (Ferreira) Casador. Gabriel's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, kindness, and faith, which he embodied in every aspect of his existence.
Gabriel is survived by his devoted wife, Esmeralda (Rodrigues) Casador, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. His legacy lives on through his children, Julio Casador and Helen Mendonca of East Providence, Ana Maria Casador and Frank of Cranston, and Lucy Casador of East Providence. He was a loving brother to the late Belmira Camara and Adriana Simas. Gabriel's role as a grandfather was one of his most treasured, as he leaves behind Jessica Walsh, Isaiah Brown, and Noah Varella. The late Erik was also a beloved grandchild who held a special place in his heart. His great-grandchildren, Isla and Kai Walsh, will grow up hearing stories of their great-grandfather's warmth and spirit.
Gabriel's journey brought him from the beautiful shores of Portugal in 1959 to Providence then in 1977, eventually to East Providence, where he made a lasting home. His commitment to his faith was evident through his active participation as a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. Gabriel's dedication to his work was apparent to all who knew him, as he served as a maintenance worker for the former Melina Company for over 11 years, a role in which he took great pride and performed with exceptional diligence.
Those who knew Gabriel will fondly remember him as a pillar of strength and a beacon of light in their lives. His loving nature, kindness to all, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on his community. He was a man who nurtured deep bonds with family and friends, and his absence will be profoundly felt by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Gabriel's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, hard work, and devotion to his family and faith. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through generations and in the quiet moments when his loved ones feel his presence in their hearts. Gabriel Ferreira Casador's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide those he loved. He will be deeply missed, remembered fondly, and honored for the remarkable man he was.
