WINDSOR-Gabriel John DeRaps, 46, passed away at home on August 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Gabe was born on October 31,1978 to parents Thomas DeRaps and Margaret (Hunter) DeRaps. He grew up in Jefferson and Hallowell. He graduated from Cony High School, class of 1997. Gabe was musically talented and participated in the Chizzle Whizzle productions and was a member of the musical group "Madrigal" traveling the state of Maine to perform.

At the age of 17, he met his future wife while attending a small church in Whitefield. On August 7, 1999, he married Amanda L. Schmitt and the two went on to raise eight loving daughters.

Gabe worked for Fred's Coffee where his regular customers looked forward to seeing his friendly face. Gabe was friend to so many people new and old. He enjoyed having a small homestead, being in nature and working with his hands. He will be remembered as the "music guy" fun-loving, the life of the party- as well as a dedicated husband and father.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Mandy; his eight daughters: Lily Cadle and her husband Eric, Allythia, Sophia, Mahalah, Elise, Riella, Serenity, and Paisley DeRaps; his parents: Thomas DeRaps, wife Cheryl; his mother, Margaret DeRaps; his brother, Christopher DeRaps and his wife, Kristina; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 10 am to 11 am at Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Rd., Windsor, ME 04363 where a funeral service will begin at 11. Burial at Rest Haven Cemetery will be private. All others are welcome to a celebration of life gathering following the service at the Windsor Christian Fellowship, 9 Reed Rd., Windsor, ME 04363 where stories may be shared. In lieu of flowers, those who desire to continue to support Mandy and her family may consider a gift to the fund established after Gabe's accident by clicking here
