Gabriel Thomas Obituary
Mr. Gabriel “Turbo” Thomas, 25, of Oakdale, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Vernal Baptist Church, he served Morgan and Anderson Sheriff departments, and he worked at Shield and Buckler. Gabriel had strong faith in the Lord and that faith kept him going through his illness. He never met a stranger, and he had love for everyone.
He was preceded in death by his stepbrother: Nicholas Trammell.
Grandparents: Thomas Sr & Sandra Bowling and Charles Strayer, Jr.
He is survived by his parents: Amanda & Ray Strayer and John & Christen Thomas.
3 brothers: Noah Thomas, Christian Strayer, and Charles Strayer.
2 Sisters: Brittany & husband Josiah Eakle and Cayden Thomas.
Grandparents: Fred & Debbie Hampton, John & Elizabeth Thomas, and Edie Stayer.
Great Grandmothers: Jean Pollard and Geraldine Hampton.
Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
Special friends: Brian & Becky Luttrell.
The family will receive friends Thursday January 22, 2026, at Mt Vernal Baptist Church in Westel from 5:00 PM EST to 8:00 PM EST. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM EST with Bro. Ronnie Clark and Pastor Derrick Stewart. Graveside services will be Friday January 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM EST in Mt. Vernal Baptist Church Cemetery.
